Introduction
Working with data between systems—particularly when those systems have differing requirements—can be a considerable effort with potential for errors. For Meridia Verify users submitting farm plot data to ICE CoT, this tutorial is essential.
Meridia introduces a new feature in the Meridia Verify portal: the ICE CoT Export, which allows users to export their dataset corresponding to the ICE-CoT data set specifications for submission. This enhancement significantly simplifies what was previously a largely manual process. It is designed to make data transfer more efficient, reliable, and smoother with ICE CoT’s requirements.
Beyond the technical improvements, this feature represents a meaningful step towards saving users time and minimising the risk of mistakes. Our objective for this feature is to provide a smoother, more dependable workflow—ultimately offering greater peace of mind.
Step-by-Step Guide
The following section explains how to use the new ICE CoT Farm Plot Export feature:
Navigate to the Dataset to Export:
WIth this new feature in Meridia Verify Portal, whenever users click on the 'Download As' button where users will now see a new option: the ICE-CoT Export. This new export feature is available in several places within Meridia Verify Portal.
Select this export option to begin the process.
Specify Coffee Variety (if applicable):
For the coffee commodity dataset, ICE CoT requires details regarding the coffee variety grown on the plot. If your data includes coffee plots, a prompt will appear requesting you to select the appropriate variety: Arabica or Robusta.
Once selected, click Continue Export.
Review ICE CoT Export:
Once the export begins, the system automatically performs a series of validation checks. You will be notified if:
Any required fields are missing (e.g. the dataset is missing the farmer ID column data).
The geometry is incompatible (e.g. multi-polygons or multi-points, which ICE CoT do not support).
If there are critical classified risks within the dataset, a warning will be presented.
You may choose to correct the issues and resubmit the data or proceed with the export as it stands.
Download the .geojson File:
When the export is complete, an ICE-CoT-ready
.geojsonfile will be downloaded. This file includes all required data, structured precisely according to ICE CoT’s standards.
By eliminating the need for time-consuming manual adjustments between Meridia Verify and ICE CoT, it allows for faster workflow, fewer compatibility issues, and an overall improvement in user efficiency. Accurate, well-structured data enables quicker analysis and more informed decision-making within the ICE CoT platform.
Important Considerations
Geometry Restrictions: ICE CoT does not support multi-polygons and multi-points. Always ensure that your geometry is in an appropriate geometry format that meets ICE CoT requirements.
Missing Fields: Confirm that all mandatory fields are completed before initiating the export. Missing data will trigger compliance warnings.
Risk Scores: Pay close attention to any critical reclassified risk scores, as these may indicate issues that could prevent acceptance by ICE CoT.
Summary
The ICE CoT Farm Plot Export has been developed to simplify a process that was once both time-consuming and prone to error. By generating a fully compliant .geojson file, the feature ensures that your data is correctly formatted and ready for submission in ICE CoT platform, reducing manual intervention and streamlining your workflow.
